This course equips you with the know-how to operate at a management capacity in a hospitality business setting. Along with a special focus on the hospitality field and its skillsets, students will also learn basic business practices that are applicable across a wide range of industries. As hands-on experience is a critical aspect of hospitality training, students will also undertake 520 hours of practical work placement – providing them with the real-world experience they need to successfully qualify in the hospitality industry.
  • Course structure

    This course is delivered over a duration of 2-4 years.   You can choose from Full-time, part-time or accelerated delivery modes, putting you in total control of your completion date. Campus locations are available in Sydney and Brisbane.

  • Entry requirements

    Students will need access to a computer, and the internet, and have basic computing skills. A Language Literacy and Numeracy skills assessment may be required before enrolment can be confirmed.

    For domestic students: Degree: ATAR 60 or equivalent associate degree: ATAR 58 or equivalent higher education diploma: ATAR 56 or equivalent, or any completed diploma, or any completed foundation certificate. Special entry can be applied for if you have demonstrated the ability to undertake study at this level through work experience, and/or other formal, informal or non-formal study attempted and/or completed.

    International students require an IELTS 6.0 with no skills band less than 5.5. Applicants should have completed Senior High School Certificate (Year 12) or equivalent or mature age entry with relevant work experience.

  • Inclusions

    Unlike distance education or correspondence courses,  the facilitated online cohort-based study model allows you to interact and network with other students, using a range of communication and collaboration tools such as discussion forums, message boards, blogs and wiki’s (editable web pages) and RSS feeds, to ensure you never feel isolated in your independent learning.   • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
    Work experience or formal qualifications you have may count towards your course. If you have previously undertaken study at a recognised institution or have some relevant work experience, you might gain credit towards specific units in a course; shortening the time you have to study. You can send your application for Credit Transfer or RPL during the enrolment process.
  • Insustry placement
    To be awarded the Bachelor of Business (Hospitality Management) students must complete 240 credit points over 24 subjects including 2 Industry Practicums. Each subject has a value of 10 credit points.

    A minimum of 800 hours of industry placement needs to be completed during the second year of the course.

The Bachelor of Business (Hospitality Management) consists of three levels of subjects, each with core units of competency, and electives which are chosen by students to complete each level.
