This qualification is designed to give you a rigorous education and training in executive learning management and leadership competencies. When you graduate, you will be geared towards enacting new knowledge and skills in a high-level leadership and management environment to help an entity meet their organisational learning needs. This course is aimed at those already working in the management team of an organisation that would like to formalise their executive experience and build on their existing wealth of knowledge.
Course structure

The standard course is conducted over a 12 month period; within a self-paced online learning environment. 

Upskilled will gather information about your previous experience and skills, weekly study commitment and online learning experience to provide you with an projected duration for your course based on your individual circumstance. 

Upskilled uses MyUpskilled to manage the delivery and assessment of your course. This means you can learn at your own pace.

Recognition of Prior Learning / Credit Transfer
Work experience or formal qualifications you have may count towards your course. If you have previously undertaken study at a recognised institution or have some relevant work experience, you might gain credit towards specific units in a course; shortening the time you have to study. You can send your application for Credit Transfer or RPL during the enrolment process.
Upskilled takes evidence gathered from a variety of sources to deem a student as competent. Assessment processes might include some or all of the following:
  • Recognition of Prior Learning and/or credit transfer
  • summative and formative assignments
  • written reports and/or portfolio assessments
  • scenarios and/or case studies
  • projects
  • written/oral questions
  • regular training and assessment contact will be maintained by Upskilled in conjunction with the participant and their employer (where applicable). Critical dates during the program will be identified for participants to ensure compliance to assessment due dates, and attendance at monthly webinars as required.


This qualification consists of the below units of competency. All competencies must be successfully completed to attain the qualification.
Lead personal and strategic transformation

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to analyse and improve personal leadership style and professional competence and to lead organisational transformation and learning for strategic outcomes. It covers leading transformational practices, cultivating collaborative practices, completing ongoing professional development and providing strategic leadership in a dynamic context. It applies to those who use cognitive and creative skills to review, critically analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge, in order to generate ideas and provide solutions to complex problems. They use communication skills to demonstrate their understanding of theoretical concepts and to transfer knowledge and ideas to others.

Lead learning strategy implementation

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to provide professional leadership in improving organisational learning, and the quality of training and assessment products and services. It also covers leading strategy formation; designing, developing and implementing an organisational learning strategy; and reviewing and improving overall organisational learning and development. It applies to individuals working in an enterprise where learning is used to build capabilities and contribute to organisational strategies, business plans, goals and values.

Plan and implement a mentoring program

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to develop and implement a mentoring program for a particular section or group within an educational organisation, or for a specific business purpose or objective within an enterprise whose core business is not education, or as a collaborative partnership spanning more than one organisation (such as to advance occupational or industry-specific skill needs). It applies to individuals who plan, develop, implement, monitor and evaluate a mentoring program that results in learning forged through a defined and active learning partnership with a mentor. The program should develop and use tools that enhance both the learning and the phased relationship, and it should be monitored and evaluated to ensure it explores and meets the mentee’s learning needs.

Implement improved learning practice

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to initiate, and implement, practices that support the improvement of learning strategies in an organisational context. It includes: ◾evaluating ways to improve learning practice, managing and monitoring the means by which to improve learning, analysing, and advancing adoption of improved learning practice ◾methods for improving learning practice, including developing individual staff members from the perspective of the organisation’s needs and imperatives, and enhancing outcomes for learners and candidates. It applies to leaders or managers who use research, theoretical analysis and professional investigation, to identify ways in which to implement learning practices that build organisational capabilities within a small to medium-sized organisation, or to a significant unit of activity in a large organisation.
