Data centre short course FAQs

Common questions about the CDCP, CDCS and CDCE data centre courses and how they work.

Upskilled offers the EPI Design and Build track: the Certified Data Centre Professional (CDCP), Certified Data Centre Specialist (CDCS) and Certified Data Centre Expert (CDCE). Together these short courses form a step-by-step certification pathway from foundational to expert level.

No. The CDCP has no formal prerequisite and is the entry point to the data centre track. Some experience in a data centre or facilities environment is helpful but not required. A valid CDCP is needed to enrol in the CDCS, and a valid CDCS is needed for the CDCE. Check the EPI website for course-specific prerequisites.

Yes. The CDCP, CDCS and CDCE are EPI certifications, with exams governed by EXIN, and are recognised internationally across the data centre industry.

Each course is delivered online through two flexible formats: Virtual Instructor-Led Training (VILT), where you learn live with an EPI Certified Instructor, or Training On Demand (TOD) for more flexible, self-paced study. Both are delivered online, so there's no need to attend in person. A certification exam voucher is included. Get in touch to learn more.

They suit IT, facilities and data centre professionals, including data centre and facility managers, engineers, network and systems engineers, and consultants who design, operate or maintain data centres.

The CDCP® is a professional certification-style course rather than a nationally recognised VET qualification. It is designed to build targeted knowledge for data centre and IT infrastructure environments.

Data centre training may support pathways into roles such as Data Centre Technician, IT Support Technician, Systems Support Officer, Network Support Officer, Infrastructure Support Technician or facilities-focused technology roles, depending on experience and further study.

The CDCP covers the key components of a high-availability data centre, including power, cooling, security, cabling and safety, along with core operations and maintenance considerations.
