Priority Wage Subsidy* is a new government wage subsidy to encourage employers of any size, Australia-wide, to take on apprentices and trainees.
Training your staff through apprenticeships or traineeships is a great way for businesses to attract new employees or upskill existing team members. Training your staff whilst they work is a smart move for any employer while also earning a nationally recognised qualification, and businesses have highly skilled employees who are trained, challenged and feel happy at work.
The Priority Wage subsidy aims to support employers and Group Training Organisations to take on apprentices and trainees in jobs that are in demand, filling skill shortages now and into the future.
Priority Wage Subsidy is in addition to other payments available to employers under the Australian Apprenticeships Incentives Program.
- The subsidy is available to employers of any size, or geographic location.
- This will apply to all employees who commence a traineeship on or after 01/07/2022.
- The wage subsidy is available for a maximum of $1,500 per quarter per eligible Australian Apprentice.
- The subsidy is available for wages paid from the commencement of a traineeship for up to 3 years*. For more information on the breakdown please talk to our team and we would be happy to help you.
