Travis Hackett

Head of Vocational Education - CHC · Community & Health faculty

Travis Hackett is Head of Vocational Education for Community Services at Upskilled. He oversees how the CHC qualifications are built and taught, including deciding what a graduate must be able to do before Upskilled is willing to say they are ready for the sector.

He came to the role after 28 years working in community services rather than from an education background, and that shapes the faculty. Course content is judged by whether it prepares someone for the reality of the work, not by how easy it is to assess.

Travis's leadership background covers community services provision and management, and youth services with Ku-ring-gai Council. He is a registered Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner with the Attorney-General's Department a credential that requires meeting and maintaining an external professional standard, which is the same discipline vocational compliance demands.

Travis's leads curriculum design across the Community & Health faculty, the standard trainers are held to, and the judgement calls about what belongs in a qualification that leads to work with vulnerable people. His stated commitment is that students leave equipped to deliver meaningful outcomes for clients and communities, and the faculty is built around holding that line.

Travis also trains across the faculty. His frontline practice and the areas he teaches are on his trainer profile.
