FAQs

Quick answers to common questions students have when exploring leadership and management short courses.

Some are and some are not, and each course page says which. The Introduction and Advanced Leadership & Management short courses and the Introduction to Team Management Skill Set (BSBSS00109) are nationally recognised training: you receive a Statement of Attainment built from units of accredited qualifications. The Mini MBA and the micro-credential courses are non-accredited: you receive an industry-recognised Certificate of Completion, not an AQF credential.

There is no licence requirement to work as a manager in Australia, and a short course can quickly build the day-to-day skills of leading a team. That said, 78.1% of general managers hold a Diploma or above, and employers hiring for management roles often prefer a nationally recognised credential. If a management role is the goal, a Certificate IV or Diploma of Leadership and Management is the stronger path.

The micro-credentials are 4 modules of roughly 4 hours each, completed 100% online and self-paced. The Mini MBA in Leadership and Strategy is 8 modules of around 4 hours each. The Statement of Attainment short courses are self-paced over a few weeks of part-time study. All start immediately after enrolment.

The Short Course in Introduction to Leadership & Management covers foundational supervisory skills drawn from Certificate IV level units: team coordination, operational planning and workplace communication. The Short Course in Advanced Leadership & Management draws from Diploma level units and covers strategic planning, organisational development and higher-level decision-making. Start with Introduction if you are new to leadership, or go straight to Advanced if you already manage a team.

A Mini MBA is a short, focused program covering the core concepts of an MBA in a condensed format. It is industry-recognised but it is not a university degree and not an AQF qualification. Upskilled's Mini MBA in Leadership and Strategy covers 8 modules of about 4 hours each and focuses on practical leadership application rather than academic theory.

No. There are no formal prerequisites for any course on this page. The Introduction to Leadership & Management, the Team Management Skill Set and 21st Century Leadership suit beginners. The Advanced Leadership & Management short course and the Mini MBA get more out of people who already have some workplace leadership experience.

Yes. Leadership short courses are a common professional development spend. Prices for the non-accredited Mini MBA and micro-credential courses include GST, and Upskilled can invoice your employer. For team training, Upskilled's Leadership Academy runs customised workshop programs for organisations.
