Marketing coordinator salary in Australia (indicative pay guide)

Marketing coordinator is the job title that sits right where a lot of careers turn: too senior to be admin, not yet a manager, and the person who actually gets campaigns out the door.

Here is what the role pays in Australia, how the jobs either side of it compare, and what moves the number.

What marketing coordinators earn

SEEK publishes typical salaries and live job counts by role. As at 25 September 2026:

RoleTypical salary (SEEK)Jobs advertised on SEEK
Marketing assistant$70,000 a year2,328
Marketing coordinator$80,000 a year3,451
Marketing officer$83,000 a year2,299
Marketing manager$115,000 a year4,305

SEEK puts the marketing coordinator range at $75,000 to $85,000 a year, refreshed on 1 September 2026. Two things to hold on to when you read that. These figures come from advertised roles, not from a survey of what everyone is paid, and advertised roles skew towards employers who are hiring right now. They are a good indication of the market, not a promise.

For a wider view, Jobs and Skills Australia puts about 103,100 people in the advertising and marketing professionals group, with median full-time earnings of about $1,957 a week and employment growing by around 3,000 people a year. That group runs from coordinators through to senior specialists and managers, and only 18 per cent work part time, which tells you this is mostly a full-time field.

What moves your pay

  • Specialisation. Generalist coordinators sit in the middle of the range. People who own something measurable, such as paid campaigns, email and automation, or analytics, move up faster.
  • In-house or agency. Agencies often pay less at coordinator level but hand you far more range, far more quickly. In-house roles tend to pay steadier and go deeper on one brand.
  • Industry. The same title pays differently across sectors, and SEEK's own breakdown shows the spread by industry.
  • Evidence, not just years. The people who jump fastest are the ones who can point at a campaign and say what it did, in numbers.
  • The step into management. The biggest jump in the table above is coordinator to manager. That move is about owning a budget and a team, not about being better at the coordinator job.

How people get into the role

Most marketing coordinators arrive from one of three directions: up from an assistant role, sideways from admin or customer service in a business that has a marketing team, or in from another career entirely with a qualification behind them.

The Certificate IV in Marketing and Communication (BSB40820) is built for exactly that middle ground. The units cover assessing marketing opportunities, undertaking marketing activities, promoting products and services, analysing consumer behaviour, applying knowledge of communications, writing complex documents, presenting and debating ideas, making presentations, building business relationships and applying business risk management.

It is 100% online and self-paced with no exams, and the guide is around 12 to 20 hours of study a week, with most students finishing in 12 to 18 months. There are no formal entry requirements.

Where it goes next

Coordinator is a waypoint, not a destination. Two common next steps:

Frequently asked questions

Can I get a marketing coordinator job without a degree?

Yes, and many people do. What employers want to see is evidence that you can run marketing activity and report on it. A nationally recognised qualification plus a portfolio of real work is a credible combination.

Is this a social media marketing qualification?

No. It is broad marketing and communication. If social media is specifically your goal, the specialist diploma is the better fit.

How current are these salary figures?

The typical salaries and job counts were checked on 25 September 2026, and SEEK refreshed its marketing coordinator range on 1 September 2026. Salary data moves, so check the source before quoting it in a negotiation.

What does the course cost?

Payment plans are available. Prices change, so speak with an education consultant for current pricing and to check whether any funding applies to you.
