Here are some of the exciting career opportunities
A Certificate IV in Community Services is an intermediate-level qualification that builds on foundational skills and introduces more specialised knowledge in areas such as mental health and alcohol and other drugs. It prepares YOU to work with more complex client needs.
A Certificate IV is a nationally recognised AQF Level 4 qualification that prepares you for specialist support, advocacy and case work roles in the community services sector. At Upskilled, our Certificate IV CHC qualifications focus on two of the most in-demand areas: Mental Health (CHC43315) and Alcohol and Other Drugs (CHC43215). The Dual Cert IV combines both into one program for the broadest career options.
The Certificate IV in Mental Health (CHC43315) prepares you to provide self-directed recovery-oriented support to people with mental health issues. The Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs (CHC43215) prepares you to provide AOD intervention services, support and education to clients dealing with substance use. The Dual Cert IV combines both qualifications, which suits many sector roles that work across mental health and AOD.
Cert IV graduates work in roles such as Mental Health Support Worker, AOD Worker, Peer Support Worker, Welfare Support Worker, Outreach Worker, Community Rehabilitation Worker, and Residential Care Officer. Salaries typically range from $65,000 to $85,000 according to SEEK and Jobs and Skills Australia, with the sector projecting 15.8% employment growth over the next five years.

Yes. The Certificate IV in Mental Health, Certificate IV in Alcohol and Other Drugs, and the Dual Cert IV all require supervised work placement hours in a relevant community services setting. Upskilled provides work placement support to help you secure a suitable host organisation if you are not already working in the sector.
Mental health and substance use are deeply connected. Many clients present with co-occurring needs, and many employers prefer staff who can support both. The Dual Cert IV gives you two nationally recognised qualifications in roughly the time it takes to study one and a half, opening more roles across the sector at no extra cost compared to taking them separately.
