This course will give you the working knowledge to ensure your team works more effectively under your management. It’s designed for anyone functioning in a high level position within a business in any industry, who is looking to either solidify their strategic leadership skills or take the next step on the leadership ladder. If you are responsible for other employees, or are accountable in a leadership or management capacity, the course material covers decision making, autonomy and strategic judgement.
Course structure

The standard course is conducted over a 12 month period; within a self-paced online learning environment. 

Upskilled will gather information about your previous experience and skills, weekly study commitment and online learning experience to provide you with an projected duration for your course based on your individual circumstance.

Recognition of Prior Learning / Credit Transfer
Work experience or formal qualifications you have may count towards your course. If you have previously undertaken study at a recognised institution or have some relevant work experience, you might gain credit towards specific units in a course; shortening the time you have to study. It applies to those who use cognitive and creative skills to review, critically analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge, in order to generate ideas and provide solutions to complex problems. They use communication skills to demonstrate their understanding of theoretical concepts and to transfer knowledge and ideas to others.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to lead the development of high-level strategic plans that serve the vision and mission of an organisation. It addresses analysing the environment, identifying risks and opportunities, planning staffing requirements, succession planning, and establishing and monitoring financial and non-financial performance indicators. Leadership is applied in order to engage people with the organisation's vision and goals and in developing and implementing the plan. It applies to individuals who lead and review organisation-wide systems, exercise significant autonomy, responsibility and accountability within enterprise structures and make major contributions to the values, goals and operations of the enterprise. They will typically have responsibility for the establishment and review of significant systems for the organisation or enterprise. As a guide, entrants to this program may:

  • a qualification at Diploma level or higher, or
  • 3 years of relevant industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication.

You will also need to be at least 18 years at the time of applying for admission.

Target audience for this programme is existing Managers who wish to further develop, or formalise their skills by gaining a Graduate Diploma.  As a guide, participants would have 3 years or more experience working in a management role or hold an Advanced Diploma in a related discipline.  This programme would also suit participants wishing to gain entry to University in a Management or Leadership discipline.

This qualification reflects the role of individuals who apply advanced knowledge and skills in a range of strategic leadership and management roles.

Individuals at this level make high level autonomous decisions and use initiative and judgement to plan and implement a range of leadership and management functions in varied contexts.

They have full responsibility and accountability for personal outputs and for the work or function of others.

They use cognitive and creative skills to review, critically analyse, consolidate and synthesise knowledge, in order to generate ideas and provide solutions to complex problems. They use communication skills to demonstrate their understanding of theoretical concepts and to transfer knowledge and ideas to others.

To ensure participants are able to seamlessly access our online learning platform and video content, they will require access to a modern computer with high-speed internet. Participants will also need to possess basic computing skills, and may be required to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy skills assessment before enrolment can be confirmed.

You will also need software such as Windows Media Player, Windows Photo Viewer, or Quicktime to view online videos and images.

Language requirements

This course involves reading, researching and undertaking a range of written and practical assessments, as well as engaging in online forums and discussions. Furthermore, the delivery mode relies on the extensive use of written communication. As such, entry to the course requires the successful completion of English to Year 10 level.

Completed English at Year 10 level, you can demonstrate equivalency through one of the following:

Successful completion of a Nationally Recognised Training qualification at Certificate II level or higher;

OR

2 years relevant industry experience in a role that requires the use of written documentation and communication.

Other requirements

The other requirement for this course is - To successfully meet the assessment requirements and demonstrate communication skills, you will need to work with one or two other people to participate in video or audio role-plays. It is your responsibility to find your own suitable role play participants.
