Obtain the BSB40215 - Certificate IV of Business and BSB42015 - Certificate IV of Leadership and Management. This dual certificate is broad-ranging, and appropriate to many industry sectors, including business, administration, sales, trade, manufacturing, and retail. Students will learn a range of managerial skills in various contexts, valuable for anyone tasked with supervision of others. You will find that this qualification has relevance for a very broad range of job roles, and will allow you to lead team effectiveness.
 
Course structure

This package course is conducted over a 12 month period; within a self-paced online learning environment. 

Upskilled will gather information about your previous experience and skills, weekly study commitment and online learning experience to provide you with an projected duration for your course based on your individual circumstance.

Recognition of Prior Learning / Credit Transfer

If you have previously undertaken study at a recognised institution or have some relevant work experience, you might gain credit towards specific units in a course; shortening the time you have to study. There are 10 Units of Competency as identified in the National Business Services Training Package to successfully complete to attain the BSB40215 - Certificate IV in Business. There are also an additional 6 Units of Competency to successfully complete the BSB42015 - Certificate IV in Leadership and Management. Other elective streams are available upon request.

This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to implement the operational plan by monitoring and adjusting operational performance, producing short term plans for the department/section, planning and acquiring resources and providing reports on performance as required.

This unit defines skills, knowledge and outcomes required to use leadership to promote team cohesion. It includes motivating, mentoring, coaching and developing the team and forming the bridge between the management of the organisation and team members. This unit applies to team leaders, supervisors and new or emerging managers where leadership plays a role in developing and maintaining effective workplace relationships. It applies in any industry or community context. At this level work will normally be carried out within routine and non-routine methods and procedures, which require planning and evaluation and leadership and guidance of others. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

This unit defines skills, knowledge and outcomes required to plan and supervise the performance of the team and develop team cohesion. It applies team leaders, supervisors and new emerging managers who have an important leadership role in the development of efficient and effective work teams. Leaders at this level also provide leadership for the team and bridge the gap between the management of the organisation and the team members. As such they must 'manage up' as well as manage their team/s. No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this unit at the time of publication.

The target participants in the BSB40215 - Certificate IV of Business and BSB42015 - Certificate IV of Leadership and Management qualifications may be working in a position in a Business environment, or similar.

As a guide, entrants to this program may:

  • have completed year 12 in compulsory education
  • hold a certificate II or III in a similar discipline
  • have some work history in an associated field
  • complete an interview process with a designated Upskilled representative to ascertain suitability to the program and to review your current skills and experience, as this may allow you to move through the course more quickly

This qualification is suited to those working as administrators and project officers. In this role, individuals use well-developed skills and a broad knowledge base to apply solutions to a defined range of unpredictable problems and analyse information from a variety of sources. They may provide leadership and guidance to others with some limited responsibility for the output of others.

To ensure participants are able to seamlessly access our online learning platform and video content, they will require access to a modern computer with high-speed internet. Participants will also need to possess basic computing skills, and may be required to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy skills assessment before enrolment can be confirmed.

Recording equipment / software required

A digital video recording device (for example a webcam or mobile phone with a camera) and simple recording apps to save and upload videos, images and audio files.

Language requirements

This course involves reading, researching and undertaking a range of written and practical assessments, as well as engaging in online forums and discussions. Furthermore, the delivery mode relies on the extensive use of written communication.

Other requirements

Learner is required to undertake audio/video recordings for all UoC's.
The other requirement for this course is - To successfully meet the assessment requirements and demonstrate communication skills, you will need to work with one or two other people to participate in video or audio role-plays. It is your responsibility to find your own suitable role play participants.
