Course Description

The skills gained from the Certificate IV in Retail Management are sure to give participants a helping hand in their career when entering into one of the largest employing industries in Australia.

There are a total of 11 units to complete the qualification. The course will be delivered via a mixed delivery method of on-line learning and practical assessment activities.

Course Duration

This course is delivered over a period of about 12 months. 


Participants who complete the course receive the award SIR40316 Certificate IV  in Retail Management.

Entry Requirements

To undertake this qualification, individuals are recommended to have previous retail supervisory experience in roles such as:

  • customer service
  • supervising work teams and employee relations
  • sales performance
  • store safety and security.

Examples of evidence of retail management experience may include: job descriptions and references from current or past employers; an entry interview to determine retail management experience.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Recognition of Current Competencies (RCC) options are also available for students on request and assistance will be provided to determine eligibility. Each student requesting RPL will be interviewed and they should provide a portfolio of evidence to support their application and may be assessed on the job. On the job assessments can be conducted to assess current skills and knowledge.
