The Social Media Intensive comprehensively covers all mainstream social media channels (Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube) and explores key concepts in strategy, content, implementation, personal branding, conversion and email marketing.
The assessments for this course focus on developing a social media marketing strategy and implementation plan for the student's chosen business or organisation.
Students will have access to all the online course content and downloadable templates for 12 months to ensure that they have the resources needed to successfully implement their planned campaign strategies.
Students are supported all the way through this course with access to the mentors team – experienced social media marketers and entrepreneurs who will be there to answer questions and will assist students with the practical application of their newfound skills.
For example, students will submit their strategy to the mentors and will book in a one-on-one call to run through the initial concepts before then implementing the strategy for their chosen business.

Course structure

This online course can be done intensively over the course of 10 weeks. However, students will have full course access for 12 months. The Social Media Intensive includes 10-short courses, students will cover key concepts and learnings that will help them work towards becoming a social media marketing expert.

Undertaking the Intensive means that students will develop a better understanding of the Australian social media scene and implement effective social media strategies that can be applied to the business, corporate or creative world. 

Entry requirements

There are no formal entry requirements.

Students will need access to a computer, and the internet, and have basic computing skills. 


Upon completion of the Intensive course, students have the opportunity to extend their studies and move into the 10118NAT - Diploma of Social Media Marketing. The Intensive also allows students to use their comprehensive social media portfolio created throughout the course for their own business and for future clients.
As a confirmation of completion of this course, students will gain a certificate from SMC, digital credentials for each topic covered, and a membership to the exclusive SMC Alumni group.

Career outcomes
Students who complete the Intensive will have the opportunity to pursue a career in social media marketing. The course can also prepare them to become consultants where they work with their own clients and plan effective social media marketing strategies.

Given the condensed and intensive nature of this course, students are taken through the following modules. Each is comprised of multiple parts to ensure they're competent in the tasks required of professional social media marketing practitioners.

Module #1
Digital and Social Media Marketing

This is an introductory course that explores the digital marketing and social media marketing process to understand where social media fits within the broader marketing landscape. Students will receive a comprehensive overview of the social media networks as well as an understanding on how to target audiences and select appropriate channels to market a brand.

Module #2
Social Media Strategy

This focuses on developing a comprehensive social media strategy tailored to the students chosen business or organisation. The key concepts explored in this subject include identifying content sources, developing strategic ideas and working with search engine rankings to help improve a site's SEO (search engine optimisation).

Module #3
Copywriting, Content and Conversion

Students will learn how to write copy that converts, how to create great content and how to build a landing page. With its focus on content marketing, they will also have the opportunity to write effective copy tailored to their target audiences.

Module #4
Facebook Marketing

This course focuses on how to create organic and paid opportunities on Facebook. Students will learn how to navigate Facebook Ads manager and implement effective social media campaigns that help maximise visibility and engagement.

Module #5
Instagram Marketing

This course teaches students how to rapidly grow their Instagram followers and engagement. The topics covered include Instagram marketing opportunities, influencer marketing, formatting posts and learning the purpose of both paid and organic marketing campaigns. Students will also learn how to create high quality content and use Instagram management tools.

Module #6
LinkedIn Marketing

Students will learn how to expand their professional network on LinkedIn and implement new and exciting engagement strategies. The course also teaches students how to effectively run LinkedIn ads and find unique marketing opportunities to reach target audiences, as well as finding ways to utilise the platform's features effectively.

Module #7
Twitter Marketing

This course covers how to engage and grow followers that are part of the Twitter community. Students will learn how to plan business objectives, run Twitter ads and review analytics to measure results and effectiveness of campaigns run on the platform.

Module #8
YouTube Marketing

Students will learn how to create their own YouTube channel, prepare and record videos, upload them with ads and grow their subscribers. It also encourages them to tap into their creativity and see the value of video content creation.

Module #9
Personal Branding

This course provides a solid overview on developing a personal brand identity and finding marketing opportunities to further support this. There is a core focus on the implementation of personal brand marketing and how to strategically build an online community with authenticity.

Module #10
Email Marketing

In this course, students will learn how to convert social media traffic into paying customers with targeted email remarketing and responsive email sequences. It also explores how to improve open and click-through rates as well as reviewing metrics to help optimise content tailored to target audiences.
