The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care covers the basic competencies of childhood education and care. The material includes providing care for children and toddlers, supporting development during childhood and the behaviour of children and young people.
There are 18 units of competency delivered in this holistic course, training graduates in all the necessary functions required for a early childhood educator and or carer.
The online training program is our most popular delivery method and provides access to a fully customised e-learning environment, MyUpskilled. MyUpskilled includes powerpoint resources, reading materials, discussion boards, forums, access to assessments, resources, videos (including access to the Lynda.com video training library) and blogs. The course is conducted over a 12 month period with an expectation of submitting assessments each month.

There are no formal prerequisites for this qualification; however, the preferred pathways into this qualification include:
- Certificate II in a relevant discipline or other relevant qualification OR
- with vocational experience
The Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care requires a minimum of 120 hours to be completed in a registered and licensed children's service over the period of the qualification. Allocated study hours will vary depending on student's prior experience with assessments and experience in industry. Placement must occur for the full duration of study in the qualification. Applicants are expected to source a service suitable in their area. Support can be given upon request, where Upskilled will in its best endeavour assist applicants to gain appropriate work placement.
Recognition Of Prior Learning (RPL)
RPL is available for each Unit of Competency based on relevant workplace experience, formal training, or other expertise. To apply for RPL, please submit documentation in portfolio form for evaluation by Upskilled assessors.
A participant is deemed competent when all relevant evidence is gathered. Upskilled is receptive to evidence gathered from a variety of sources including our own assessment processes. Upskilled assessment processes include:

- Written reports/Portfolio Assessments
- Scenarios/Case Studies
- Demonstration of skills in the work place
Regular training and assessment contact will be maintained by Upskilled in conjunction with the participant and their employer (where applicable). Critical dates during the program will be identified for participants to ensure compliance to assessment due dates and attendance at classroom sessions/monthly webinars as required.
