Over the course of 12 months, students will be trained through a blend of vendor specific, vendor neutral, and trainer developed materials, covering topics such as designing and implementing security systems, integrating sustainability in the planning and design of ICT projects, and implementing secure encryption technologies. The units available in this course will enable students to specialise in several areas – including voice, wireless, network infrastructure, and sustainability.

 
Course structure

The standard course is conducted over a 12 month period; within a self-paced online learning environment.

If you have previously undertaken study at a recognised institution or have some relevant work experience, you might gain credit towards specific units in a course; shortening the time you have to study. This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to build a high performance, high security, failure resistant security perimeter, for an enterprise information and communications technology (ICT) network. It applies to individuals with excellent ICT expertise who are working as middle managers, including information security managers, network engineers, network technicians and security analysts.

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to integrate sustainability concepts and policies into information and communications technology (ICT) planning and design projects. These projects typically involve upgrades of equipment hardware and software or new installations of next generation networks (NGN) using emerging technologies. It applies to individuals who have high level specialist technical skills and knowledge in optical communications and IT networks using internet protocol (IP) systems.

There are no specific entry requirements for this qualification.

Target audience for this program are existing ICT staff who wish to further develop, or formalise their skills by gaining an ICT60215 Advanced Diploma in Network Security.  

As a guide, entrants to this program may:

  • have 3-5 years of experience with ICT products
  • hold a Diploma in a similar discipline
  • hold a premier vendor certification
  • ​complete an interview process with a designated Upskilled representative to ascertain suitability to the program and to review your current skills and experience, as this may allow you to move through the course more quickly

This program would also suit participants wishing to gain entry to higher level ICT discipline qualifications.

To ensure participants are able to seamlessly access our online learning platform and video content, they will require access to a modern computer with high-speed internet. Participants will also need to possess basic computing skills, and may be required to complete a Language Literacy and Numeracy skills assessment before enrolment can be confirmed.

This course involves reading, researching and undertaking a range of written and practical assessments, as well as engaging in online forums and discussions. Furthermore, the delivery mode relies on the extensive use of written communication.
